This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on this website, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how you can accept, refuse or delete them. It sits alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies let a site remember things between pages and between visits — for example, that you have already made a choice about cookies. Some websites also use similar technologies such as local storage, which works in much the same way. Where this policy says "cookies", it covers both.
Cookies set by this website are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company whose content appears on our pages are called third-party cookies. We use both, and both are listed below.
How we ask for your permission
The first time you visit, a banner appears asking whether you accept cookies. Until you choose Allow cookies, we set only the strictly necessary cookies listed in the next section. We do not load Google Analytics, the Facebook plugin or Google Maps until you have agreed.
If you choose Decline, we remember that choice and none of the optional cookies are set. You can still use every part of the site, though the Facebook feed and the coverage map will not display.

Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the website to function and to honour the choice you have made. They do not track you and we do not need your consent to set them.

Analytics cookies
These are only set if you choose Allow cookies. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they read and roughly where in the country they are, so we know which services to write more about. We do not use analytics to advertise to you, and we have not enabled Google's advertising or remarketing features.

Google acts as our data processor for this. You can read Google's explanation of how it handles Analytics data (opens in a new tab), or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (opens in a new tab) to block it on every website you visit.
Third-party content on our pages
Some of our pages include content provided by other companies. That content is loaded directly from their servers, which means those companies can see your IP address and may set their own cookies. We only load this content after you have chosen Allow cookies.
We do not control these cookies and cannot list them individually, because the companies concerned change them from time to time. The links below go to their own current cookie information.

We also load a small animation library from the public code repository unpkg.com. It does not set cookies, but as with any file served from another domain, that server receives your IP address as part of the request.
Changing your mind
Your choice is not permanent. To change it:
- Click the Cookie policy tab in the bottom corner of any page on this site. The banner will reappear.
- Choose Allow cookies or Decline.
Withdrawing consent stops any further optional cookies being set. It does not automatically delete cookies already stored on your device — to remove those, use your browser's settings as described below.
Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored, delete them, and block them in future. Be aware that blocking all cookies will stop many websites working properly, including the consent banner on this one.

We review this policy whenever we change the tools used on the website, and at least once a year. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we start using cookies for a new purpose, we will ask for your consent again.
